8-Man District Scenarios

Just two weeks left in the 8-Man regular season so it's time to look at who might be automatic district qualifiers

With just two weeks left in the 8-man football regular season we are closing in on determining who will be the district champions heading into the playoffs.

In 8-man, 32 teams will advance to the qualifying round of for the statewide playoffs. In Class D-1, the field is 11 district champions and 21 wild cards based of the NSAA power point system. In Class D-2, there are nine district champions and 23 wild cards.

In each class, the teams are split into east-west brackets for the qualifying round and then seeded 1-16. The 16 winners are then re-bracketed without regard to geography after the completion of games on Friday, October 27.

Here is a look at where the teams and districts stand heading into the Week 7. Only Bridgeport has clinched, but many could in games this week.

Class D-1

D1-1: Elmwood-Murdock, Weeping Water winner this Friday.

D1-2: EMF, Johnson County Central winner this Friday.

D1-3: If both win this week, Cross County will play Shelby-Rising City for district title next week.

D1-4: Pender and Stanton are both undefeated and would play next week.

D1-5: Crofton with a win over Tri County Northeast this week.

D1-6: Elkhorn Valley and Plainview both undefeated and play next week.

D1-7: Ravenna and Riverside both undefeated and play next week.

D1-8: Sandy Creek with a win AND McCool Junction loss OR they play next week.

D1-9: Hi-Line, Arapahoe and Cambridge all still alive.

D1-10: North Platte St. Patrick’s will play Perkins County for district title next week.

D1-11: Bridgeport plays Morrill but has clinched a playoff spot and will have next week off.

Class D-2

D2-1: Johnson-Brock with a win over Falls City Sacred Heart.

D2-2: Humphrey St. Francis with a win over Walthill.

D2-3: Wynot, Bloomfield winner next week.

D2-4: Ainsworth with win and Boyd County loss OR they play next week.

D2-5: Osceola, High Plains winner this Friday.

D2-6: Axtell with a win over Deshler this Friday.

D2-7: Central Valley and Twin Loup both undefeated and play next week.

D2-8: Dundy County Stratton with a win over Hitchcock County this week.

D2-9: South Loup with win and Anselmo-Merna loss OR they play next week.
